Molecular solutions for ethical human enhancement through genetic engineering.

Emerging biotechnologies promise to turn the idea of eradicating genetic disorders into a reality, but ethical issues related to consent and eugenics appear to preclude the option of ‘human enhancement’.  However, by combining existing technologies, such as IVF, artificial chromosomes, and the Cre/LoxP recombination system, a strategy for enhancing the genome of your child without taking away their right to consent, and without altering the genetic make-up of future generations, is conceived. Kingdom of Rebels#02: Malaysia – Singapore

On 14th-22nd March 2011, HONF held project Kingdom Of Rebel #02, a project which was initiated by National Art Gallery Malaysia and HONF. This project was an expansion of Kingdom Of Rebel, a project of collaboration between HONF, Parking Project and National Art Gallery 5 years ago in Kualalumpur Malaysia. The project was expanded with the initiatives of Lasalle College Of The Arts to held several activities in Singapore and Rinjan to held a performance event called Kotak Hitam 5.0. Space Ecologies Presentation

A presentation from Angelo Vermeulen (BE) as part of HONF residency program on next july 2011.
the presentation held as collaboration of HONF and Microbiology Lab, Gadjah Mada University.

Space Ecologies explores the future of mankind in outer space, and this project is a collaboration with different international partners such as the European Space Agency and the SintLucas Visual Arts Ghent. In Yogyakarta, Vermeulen plans to engage in dialogue about local cosmology and explore the terraforming of Mount Merapi.

On 25th February, HONF presents one night video exhibition by Kelly O’Neill (US) and Eline Jongsma (NL), two cross-Atlantic filmmaking team. Their approach is solidly Do-It-Yourself: they work as a two-person crew, and use small, low-cost camera equipment. They first collaborated in 2006 while attending an artist residency in Prishtine, Kosovo. While there, they made and exhibited a new media installation shot partially on the largest US-led military base in Europe. Read more

Blender Workshop

A workshop program on the basics of using Blender in the field of audiovisual interactive. Workshop was held on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at HONF. This workshop was given by Anne-Marie Schleiner and Luis Hernandez Galvan, two new media artist who focuses on the use of video-based games online and offline. Read more

Story Telling & Puppet Performance

Thursday, 25th November 2010, HONF and Six Needles Six Community went to Yakkum Rehabilitation Centre to have a story telling and puppet performance, which this performance was meant as a fun and therapy for the children at the rehabilitation.

The puppet was a handmade sewing puppet, by Six Needles Six, which most of them form as funny octopus and tiny dwarf. The story was a spontaneous script without special preparation since it was dedicated as an interactive story telling that children of Yakkum able to be part of the story, which sometimes it stopped due to mistaken and jokes either by the story teller or children of Yakkum.
